Rezoning of Catherine Fields (Part) Precinct in Sydney’s south west was announced in late 2013 by the NSW Minister for Planning, Mr Brad Hazzard.
CFPP occupies the southern extremity of the larger Catherine Fields Precinct and is approximately 320 hectares in area immediately adjoining Oran Park Precinct (to its west) and Turner Road Precinct (to its east).
“The latest figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show a total of 44,628 new homes were approved in the 12 months to October 2013 (NSW), the highest level since 2005. This number will be boosted by the 3,200 new homes to be built at Catherine Field(s)… the 7th major precinct rezoning in the Growth Centres in Western Sydney since 2011. ‘Together, those seven rezonings will see the construction of about 50,000 new houses…’”
MacroPlan prepared the Social Infrastructure & Demographic Assessment for the NSW Department of Planning & Infrastructure in 2012 to inform the Indicative Layout Plan prepared for the precinct. The assessment detailed provision of open space, recreation and community facilities for the future population of the CFPP.
The basis of determining and allocating future provision of community infrastructure stems from the additional population the precinct is expected to accommodate, the majority of which will be provided in a relatively low density format. CFPP is part of a larger precinct that will eventually accommodate over 20,000 persons.
New homes at CFPP will be available for purchase in 2015.
