MacroPlan Project of the Month: Dunmore Resource Recovery upgrade

The MacroPlan project management team has managed the delivery of the final stage of the Dunmore Resource Recovery Facility for Shellharbour City Council.

The Dunmore Resource Recovery redevelopment included the construction of a new transfer station and a Food Organics & Green Organics (FOGO) processing facility. These improvements will make it possible for Shellharbour City Council to provide a more frequent domestic waste management service and achieve improved environmental outcomes by diverting 75% of the waste received at the site from landfill.

Thursday 30th November saw Shellharbour City Council Mayor, Marianne Saliba and The Hon Robert Hill AC officially open the Transfer Station and the FOGO facilities.

The introduction of the FOGO service, operated by ReGroup is part of Shellharbour City Council’s long term strategy to implement better waste management systems for its residents by diverting compositable food organics and garden organics from landfill and realise the value of those resources through conversion to a reusable landscaping product.
