The retail landscape is changing as urban renewal takes shape across our cities and regions. There have been some innovative ideas emerging in the small format retail space as retailers and developers look to transition to a more customer friendly and dynamic shopping environment.
MacroPlan, as a leading retail and economics advisor has been working with Metcash Food and Grocery in understanding changes in the retail environment. Recently MacroPlan’s National Business Development Manager, Joel Taylor co-hosted a retail study tour for a select group of property and planning professionals.
In partnership with Metcash Food and Grocery the tour highlighted a range of stores showcasing innovative retailing, new store concepts and built form. This year’s focus was on the South East Queensland Region, touring sites in Greenslopes, Mt Cotton, Cleveland, Regents Park and Algester. Attendees included a mix of local government representatives, industry professionals and property developers.
Thank you to Gadens Lawyers and TPM Builders for their sponsorship and support of the tour. Thank you also to Vicki Keast, Business Development Manager and the IGA store owners who kindly showed us through their supermarket. After another successful day on the bus, plans are already underway for our next tour.
