Location: Leopold, a satellite suburb of Geelong (VIC)
Brief: A detailed Economic Impact Assessment (EIA) was required to assist in gaining planning approval to transform the existing neighbourhood shopping centre into a major sub-regional centre serving the entire Bellarine Peninsula and parts of Geelong.
Methodology: The report provided an in depth analysis of the demand and major scope for the proposed expansion of Gateway Plaza into a sub-regional centre. It reviewed the relevant planning background of the region, provided detailed population forecasts and reviewed the existing competitive context of Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. The report then considered the likely economic impacts and community benefits, such as employment creation, expected to result from the proposed expansion of the centre.
Result: MacroPlan delivered a thoroughly researched report which was submitted to the City of Greater Geelong as part of the planning permit application for the project.
