Report on rates is due – MacroPlan in the press

Andrew Brookes from Sunraysia Daily writes:

MILDURA Rural City Council will receive a preliminary report from the independent consultants reviewing its rating system within days.

The report will make recommendations based on more than 100 community consultations conducted across the municipality recently about how rates should be calculated.

Mildura Rural City Council (MRCC) corporate general manager Mandy Whelan said in a statement to Sunraysia Daily that council expected the consultants, MacroPlan, to hand down a preliminary report for consideration this week.

“The report from MacroPlan will form the basis of a draft rating strategy to be released to the public for comment early in the new year,” Ms Whelan wrote.

“The consultation process has provided valuable perspectives for the consultants in developing their recommendations for Mildura Rural City Council’s future rating strategy.

“Understandably, the public are eager to see the draft rating strategy and council will now spend the necessary time considering the merits of various options before a draft is released.”
