$8.5 million HAF Funding for Mackay

MacroPlan Australia was successful in supporting the Plantation Palms Estate’s successful bid for funding under the Federal Government’s Housing Affordability Fund. The funding, announced by Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for Housing, on 5 May 2010, will facilitate the opening up of several stages of the estate’s development and the concurrent provision of affordable housing options. MacroPlan worked with together with Mackay Regional Council in managing the successful bid.

The initiative is seen by Council as an important step in delivering housing density options and responsive planning reforms. Peter Cardiff, Director Development Services at Mackay Regional Council, formally thanked MacroPlan for its assistance in preparing the funding application.

“Mackay, due to the mining boom, is a rapidly growing Region and without MacroPlan’s support and assistance, Mackay would not have been given such an opportunity to gain access to the Australian Government Housing Affordability Funding,” Mr Cardiff said.
