Mining construction boom “We’ve been getting ahead of ourselves”

Views on Australia’s mining boom will be shaped by the latest engineering construction work done data for June quarter 2012, released by the ABS on Wednesday 29 August. This data feeds into GDP measures of economic growth, so it will ripple out into wider views on key sectors and property markets. We expect that the June quarter 2012 figure will show a sharp drop in engineering construction work done, a decline in the order of 15% (quarter-on-quarter). Our view is that this data would not be a true reflection of conditions. To view our findings, please click here.
