Client: City of Onkaparinga
Macroplan was engaged by City of Onkaparinga to undertake an assessment of the demand and supply of employment land within the LGA. Onkaparinga is located south of Adelaide and contains a large industrial precinct (Lonsdale), including the now closed Port Stanvac oil refinery, which occupies about 200 hectares.
Our work involved a detailed assessment of the take-up of industrial land in Lonsdale and other employment precincts within the LGA, including the volume and quality (effective useability) of industrial land.
Our team modelled employment growth in several industries and translated that to industrial demand scenarios to 2051, including estimates of the projected shortfall in supply of employment land.
Our study demonstrated a significant tightening in supply both in Lonsdale and across the LGA. The final report will be used to inform future decisions concerning the future use of the now rehabilitated and vacant Port Stanvac site.
